The Bible teaches that God is always faithful, that He’s always TRUE to HIS WORD. Saints throughout history have affirmed it, and hymns and worship songs celebrate it.

But what if it doesn’t look that way to you? You’re not alone. The Bible is full of examples of God’s children struggling to trust him in seasons of disappointment, discouragement, danger, disaster, depression, and deep grief—only to see God’s faithfulness to them manifest in surprising ways.

These meditations are designed to help you grow in your ability to recognize God’s faithfulness in places you may not typically look, at times you don’t expect, and in providences—especially the most disturbing and devastating ones—that often don’t look like God’s faithfulness.

Because the more you see it, the more wonderful God’s faithfulness becomes to you. And the more you’ll realize that “all the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness” (Psalm 25:10).

All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness. Psalm 25:10 ESV

I recall this to my mind, therefore I wait. The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, for His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23 NASB

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct (or make smooth or straight) your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Psalm 36:5 NIV

  1. It had me on the edge of my seat as God's sovereignty was explored given tragic situations that occur on Earth. About 45 minutes in, they talked about Lam 3:22-25 putting it vividly into the context of what was happening to Israel at the time.

    1. These are some deeper waters, right, Jeff? I was talking with a relative about this episode. You can be a Christian for 3 years and maybe not have to deal with these issues. But if you're going to be a lifer with following Jesus (and in my view, it's necessary to make it into the Kingdom), then you will need to be ready to process these deeper waters.
