Had a great conversation with Michael Hoff on the latest podcast episode. He's nearing the completion of his PhD in Renewal Theology at Regent University.

What did Michael Hoff experience in his visit to Asbury University in Wilmore, KY?

How has the Holy Spirit moved in history? What could be next with the Asbury Awakening as a renewal movement? And what about the criticism?

More importantly, what about you? How might you be refreshed and renewed by the regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit?

Repentance >> refreshing >> restoration

"Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago."

-- Peter preaching on the Day of Pentecost, Acts 3:19-21 ESV

I believe we are in a season where there is grace for repentance and renewal. What is happening in a Macro-like way can be pulled into the Micro of our lives.

I’m challenged to ask the Lord to put his finger on things in my character and walk that I may need to repent of. An intercessor-type I know once said we have to repent our way out of things.

Old school, but on point.

Repentance (changing of the mind and heart which bears the fruit of a change in how we live) releases the refreshing presence of the Lord“that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”

And then there’s restoration. Jesus is in heaven until the time of “restoring all things” – the new heavens and new earth.

We know this is coming. It’s on the horizon.

And yet, we can begin to live now in the Kingdom Dynamic of that time when all things will be restored. We are present-future people.

The future has broken into this age. In Hebrews 6 it says we can “taste the powers of the Age to Come.”

So this is the opportunity: Repentance >> Refreshing >> Restoration

Shocking quotes on revival

A piece of content will be released soon -- 50 Shocking Quotes on Revival. Here's a sample now. It's old school, but it's right! Put another way, it's right but right!

A revival is the church falling in love with Jesus Christ all over again. -- Vance Havner

A revival is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God. -- Charles Finney

We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again. -- G. Campbell Morgan

Reformation is a return to the sound doctrine of the Bible. Revival is the practice of that sound doctrine under the power of the Holy Spirit. -- Francis Schaeffer

Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth. -- John Wesley

Our prayers lay the track down on which God's power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, his power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails. -- Watchman Nee

Revival is the eruption of God's heart on a life poured out. -- Lou Engle

Maybe a fresh rethink on spiritual gifts for our time is necessary

I think you can click this link. It will take you to a Twitter thread I put together on spiritual gifts for our time. See what you think. As a little side hobby (smile), I've been engaging a little on Twitter on the issue of Cessationism -- those who strongly advocate that spiritual gifts are not for today.

Bruce Colbert: "Churches are not producing good men."

Man up and brace yourself. Bruce Colbert is a good friend and receives this newsletter. He's put together a Twitter thread on churches not producing good men. Don't get mad at me! I'm just the humble mailman! But I do agree. Check out his website too and you may want to get on his newsletter, men -- BruceColbert.com. He does solid work.
