Your Legal Rights in Prayer – Exercise Them! (Ep 234)

Jesus tells us today we can exercise our legal rights in prayer before the Father. He is seated on the Throne of Grace waiting for our appeal.

Let’s understand that prayer is an appeal to supreme justice. And we can actually pray in the Status of Christ … he has given us his name, in effect granting us power of attorney.

As we’re born anew and then are coached up by Jesus, we can develop in powerful, legal prayer … brave, audacious prayer claims that get results.

Go Further — Legal Rights in Prayer

Have you ever thought of prayer being legal in nature? Well, can I suggest there is someone who does not want us to know this? And he certainly fears us exercising our legal rights in prayer before the Father, seated on the Throne of Grace.

All of this is based on the inheritance which Christ has won through the cross, resurrection, ascension, and his seating as a King at the right hand of the Father.

The natural mind is usually concerned about personal status. How much better to understand the Status of Christ and our place in it. One of the most frequent phrases in the New Testament is that we are “in Christ!”

The opportunity cost of not praying, and of not praying effectively and in alignment with Higher Design is just way too high of a cost. Frankly, it’s a rip off. Jesus said in John 10:10, I have come to bring abundant life. The devil comes to steal (there’s the rip off), kill, and destroy.

If that’s been happening, I have good news for you. “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8 NASB).

Resources

In this episode we talk about the dynamism of writing out your prayer claims. See this article about the Effectiveness of Writing: Neuroscience Explains Why You Need To Write Down Your Goals If You Actually Want To Achieve Them (Forbes)

What if we were to write our Prayer Claims and Affirmations of Faith? Writing anchors things and gives power to our heart desires.

Possibly use index cards. I recently purchased a pack of 4 x 6 index cards of various colors. I will write Prayer Claims with supporting scripture and affirmations of faith on these cards.

I want to become organized and absolute in my prayer life. The approach is to target areas of need and aspiration.

In effect, these will be Prayer Claims I’ll consistently bring before the Throne of Grace. Jesus said God the Father will speedily issue justice for those who cry to him night and day.

Legal Rights in Prayer — Scripture for Meditation, Prayer, and Proclamation

Mind how you pray. Make real business of it. Let it never be a dead formality … plead the promise in a truthful, business-like way … Ask for what you want, because the Lord has promised it.

Charles Spurgeon

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:1-8 ESV

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face. Psalm 89:14 NKJV

For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need. Hebrews 4:15-16 NASB
