Go Deeper — Why Christians Should Live a Wartime Lifestyle

The Queen Mary was a British ocean liner that carried passengers between Southampton, England and New York City beginning in 1936. The ship was converted into a troop transport for Allied soldiers during World War II. It holds the record for the most troops in one passage—15,740 on a run from the U.S to Europe in July of 1943.
When you convert a passenger ship into a troopship … that’s a picture of a wartime mentality! There were many changes like this during WWII. People embraced the reality of the war and lived a wartime lifestyle.

Scripture
Genesis 1:26, 28 NASB — God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” … God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule …“
Ephesians 6:11-12 NASB —Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Luke 8:14-15 ESV — And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.
Luke 9:23-25 NLT — Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?
Matthew 13:44 NASB — The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells everything that he has, and buys that field.
Psalm 45:3-5 NKJV — Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, with Your glory and Your majesty. And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; and Your right hand shall teach You awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies; the peoples fall under You.
