You Can Unleash the Potential of Christ Into Anything

We can improve anything by doing something simple and powerful: unleash the potential of Christ into any situation. Simply through asking and advancing in faith. It takes everything we are and all we do to a higher level. What part(s) of creation do you feel the Creator wants you to cultivate?

There Is No Eden-Like Experience Without Christ-Connection

I believe Christ walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden … conversing, relating, and mentoring.

It seems the Lord God would walk in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day at times  (Genesis 3:8). These were likely what scholars say were appearances of Christ on earth before He came in human form (Christophanies).

The highest expression of our capacity to cultivate creation is correlated with our Christ-Connection

Why would Adam and Eve need a conversational relationship with God … even a mentoring relationship?

They were designed and called to exercise dominion over all things—cultivating and releasing the latent potential of creation.

Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule …. (We could call this the Creation Commission or the Creation Mandate.)

Genesis 1:28 NASB

Their vital connection with Jesus is what empowered and equipped them for this role. There was a flow of life into their being as they ate from the Tree of Life and walked with Christ from time to time. Wisdom and revelation were imparted.

Jesus said it this way to his disciples …

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing … If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples” (John 15:4-5, 7-8 NASB).

God to GWC: “I’ll Show You the Secret of the Peanut”

I enjoy the life-modeling of George Washington Carver, a Christian and world-class expert in botany in the late 1800’s.

unleash the potential of Christ

He was highly educated. Yet his testimony before the United States Congress was that God revealed secrets to him. He began each day with prayer that God would reveal insights about plants and vegetables.

God told Carver, “I’ll show you the secret of the peanut.”

He discovered many innovative uses for the peanut, sweet potato, soybean, and other crops, revolutionizing southern agriculture and transforming the southern economy in the United States.

George Washington Carver invited Christ into his field of work, unleashing the potential of a part of creation he was called to develop. He was mentored by the Creator.

Now here’s the question. What part of God’s creation are you designed to cultivate? Education, technology, business, arts and, government, writing, music, manufacturing, _____________?

Unleash the Potential of Christ … Ask Him About It!

“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (Jesus in John 14:13-14 NASB).

Our faith, expressed as REQUEST, brings glory to the Father. As we invite Christ into any and every situation, we partner with Him.

The potential of anything can be unleashed …

[Prayer] is coming to One who has repeatedly invaded human history and continues to do so. It is intelligently working with him to accomplish ends that fulfill his purposes in creation and in fostering human life upon the earth …

Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy

Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden to “cultivate it and keep it” (Genesis 2:15). We (all of us together) can cultivate and release the latent potential in every part of creation:

  • Christ impresses us with solutions, the highest information, and fruitful initiatives.
  • The potential of Christ is our potential … Jesus said if we truly believe in Him, we will do greater things than he did (John 14:12).
  • You are the gateway to bring the potential of Christ into your world. You are a unique prism—the colors of Christ’s potential refracts through you in a special way.
  • Consistently ask God for a spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17) to operate in your life—about everything!

What do you want to improve? What part(s) of creation do you feel God is calling you to cultivate and develop? Share any thoughts below.

George Washington Carver’s Conversion — Unleash the Potential of Christ

(Wikipedia)

“I was just a mere boy when converted, hardly ten years old. There isn’t much of a story to it. God just came into my heart one afternoon while I was alone in the ‘loft’ of our big barn while I was shelling corn to carry to the mill to be ground into meal. A dear little white boy, one of our neighbors, about my age came by one Saturday morning, and in talking and playing he told me he was going to Sunday school tomorrow morning. I was eager to know what a Sunday school was. He said they sang hymns and prayed. I asked him what prayer was and what they said. I do not remember what he said; only remember that as soon as he left I climbed up into the ‘loft,’ knelt down by the barrel of corn and prayed as best I could. I do not remember what I said. I only recall that I felt so good that I prayed several times before I quit.

“My brother and myself were the only colored children in that neighborhood and of course, we could not go to church or Sunday school, or school of any kind. That was my simple conversion, and I have tried to keep the faith.”

  1. I think that Ephesians 1:15-23 should fill every Christian with longing and hope for realizing this great potential. It’s limitless power to the fullness of Christ. I’m not saying that it means we can control our destinies and become powerful, wealthy, influential, successful by man’s measure, but to have unbounded divine power to love, to facilitate God’s grace in desperate situations, to shine eternal light into dark places. Think of all the hopelessness in the world, the tragedies, and the meaninglessness of so many lives, and that God can use us, his body, to transform that into hope, healing, and beauty, even while we die to our own sinful desires.

    1. I like that, James — “to have unbounded divine power to love, to facilitate God’s grace in desperate situations.” He wants to bring his Higher Design in and through us into lives and settings.
