Play It Cool to Rule With King Jesus (Text and Audio)

Our potential to rule with Jesus flows from our walk with him — from our vital connection to him. We must play it cool to rule with King Jesus.

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day …” (Genesis 3:8 NKJV). Adam and Eve’s Christ-Connection in the coolness of the day was the wellspring of their authority.

Can we even imagine the pristine, open relationship between the Creator and Adam and Eve? There was nothing to degrade the relationship before the their disobedience. No “noise floor” around them to get above so they could hear the voice of the Lord.

Listen to audio on this theme from a Jesus Smart live podcast:

I’m proposing they walked with God in the cool of the day at times. And everything sprang from this clear relationship.

Note from the Blue Letter Bible — The person who was walking in the Garden was the Angel of the Lord or the Pre-Incarnate Christ. Before He came to earth two thousand years ago, Jesus appeared at various times in the Old Testament in a physical form. These include appearances to Abraham, Hagar, Moses, Joshua (Joshua 5:13), Gideon (Judges 5:12), and the wife of Manoah (Judges 13:3).

Quest to Live from Eden Outward

Through their descendants, Adam and Eve were to expand the Garden of Eden everywhere.

Because of sin, and the negative cascade it set in motion, they hid in shame. Adam and Eve were reduced to hiding instead of exercising dominion over all things.

This is a core perception of human history—humanity on the run and hiding in shame. “We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

“You crown him (mankind, the human race) with glory and majesty! You make him to rule …” (Psalm 8:5).

We have “fallen short” of God’s glory. Disconnected from God, we have lost our capacity to “rule” on his behalf—we have forgotten and missed that “majestic” (royal) anointing to exert dominion under God.

“Adam, where are you?” The Creator is searching and calling humanity through Adam. And His desire is that our lost place of dominion is restored.

Walk in a Cool Place With Jesus — Play It Cool to Rule

Christ reconciles us to coolness—that constant place of walking with Christ, vitally connected with him.

It’s from this cool place with the Creator that we are able to overcome the Enemy and live and work in our true authority.

So don’t give in to being “hot”—anger, greed, lust, fear, anxiety, desperation, turmoil, torment, and more …

play it cool to rule
“… those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of the righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17 NASB).

I’ve learned that when my “cool place” with Christ becomes compromised, I’m prone to getting “hot” … reacting to things instead of reigning over them.

Consider too that when we give attention to the Enemy, over-concentrating on what he’s doing, even over-emphasizing spiritual warfare, we can slip from the place of “coolness.”

Yes, there’s a place of warfare, but it flows from the place of refreshment and rest with the Lord God as He walks with us in the “cool of the day.”

As we tighten our focus and restore our emphasis to where it should be, we will develop our Christ-Connection and dominion in all things!
