Can You Believe That All Things Are Yours in Christ?

Jesus seemed to act like his traveling band of disciples owned everything!

“When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, ‘Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.'”

“But He said to them, ‘You give them something to eat'” (Luke 9:12-13 NKJV).

There were 5000 men in this crowd. Adding women and children, this may have been a gathering of 15,000 or 20,000! And yet, Jesus says, “Give them something to eat.”

Who does he think his followers are?

Jesus brings a new world of potential

Hindsight. Insight. Foresight.

We look back to the teaching and modeling of Jesus and his early followers to see what's possible. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you with illuminated hindsight.

We look to the Holy Spirit for inspired insight in our time. As we are transformed through knowing Christ, we can experience the extraordinary.

And we look with faith-filled foresight to the Age to Come, realizing that we can begin to taste the potential of that Age.

See You Can Experience Resurrection Life Now.

Don’t fall for the understanding that the world of Jesus (his Kingdom) is only for the new heavens and earth to come. It’s overflowing back into our time now. We can “taste the powers of the age to come” (Hebrews 6:5).

Eternal life is a higher quality of life from God that begins now and lasts forever.

a new world

When Jesus came, he brought a new, extraordinary world with him. A higher reality. In essence, his message and modeling is … “Change your mind. Change your lifestyle. The Kingdom has drawn near to you. As you’re born anew, you will see and enter this Kingdom potential. You’re going to get free. It’s a higher way of living.”

The early Christ-followers gradually began to understand this. And especially so after the ascension of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church.

Revelation knowledge is progressive

Revelation knowledge (simply, our growing knowledge of revelation) is progressive in nature. Our understanding does not have to be static.

The revelation itself is always there. Both the Old Testament and New Testament words translated reveal or revelation carry the meaning of uncovering or unveiling. So the revelation is eternal and unchanging. But our knowledge of that revelation is progressive.

Don’t fall for the understanding that the world of Jesus (his Kingdom) is only for the new heavens and earth to come. It’s overflowing back into our time now. We can “taste the powers of the age to come” (Hebrews 6:5).

The illuminating work of the Holy Spirit

Jesus told his early followers … “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come” (John 16:12-13).

And Jesus says that everything the Father has belongs to him. And the Holy Spirit will disclose or reveal these things to us …

“He (the Holy Spirit) will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you” (John 16:14-15).

The New Testament is filled with increasing revelation knowledge of Christ

Jesus is no longer in a manger. He’s no longer on the cross. He’s resurrected. Ascended. Seated in kingly authority at the right hand of the Father!

He’s far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion. See Ephesians 1:20-22. He’s now given as head over all things to the church.

The writings of the New Testament, plus the history of Christianity, reveal an expanding revelation knowledge of Jesus Christ! And this releases a progressive revelation of the Kingdom of Christ … and what that means for our lives and our expression of Kingdom life!

Jesus has firstborn rights over all creation! (It’s a game-changer for us.)

This will change your understanding of who Christ is. And your understanding of who you are! For your highest self-awareness is discovered in your awareness of Christ.

Jesus has FIRSTBORN RIGHTS over everything!

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created … all things have been created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:15-16). Also, see John 1:3 and Romans 11:36.

jesus christ has firstborn rights over everything

To know that Jesus Christ has firstborn rights over everything … AND that all things are ours in Christ … this is a game-changer for us! The key is revelation knowledge of this truth. Then we can begin to move in praise, prayer, and activation of this Kingdom dynamic in our lives. Imagine how this can change the Kingdom contribution we can all make in our world!

Jesus told his disciples that he had many things to say to them, but they were not yet able to hear. He said the Holy Spirit would come and teach them all things, bringing to their remembrance everything he said … this time with a revelation knowledge which is progressive.

By the time Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth, he says …

All things belong to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God” (1 Corinthians 3:21-23 NASB).

Everything. It’s yours!

Read the verses from 1 Corinthians 3 again. Do you see the line of ownership?  In your thinking, place yourself in this chain of relationship and stewardship! Because as a born again follower of Christ, it’s true.

→ ALL THINGS BELONG TO YOU

→ YOU BELONG TO CHRIST

→ AND CHRIST BELONGS TO THE FATHER

All things are yours in Christ!

It’s not just for the new heavens and the new earth … he says the present belongs to us as well.

Think of it! Because we are fellow heirs (Romans 8:16-17) with Christ, ALL THINGS belong to us!

Consider Paul’s words in Romans 8:32: “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

Jesus has FIRSTBORN RIGHTS over everything! Big implications if you're "in Christ."

I thank you that you’ve given everything to the Son … and everything the Son has is mine. Holy Spirit, reveal Christ to me. Show me everything that belongs to Christ. And show me everything that belongs to me in Christ! Teach me all things. Renew my mind. Father, I thank you that all things are mine in Christ! Amen.

For Jesus has come to give me abundant life by grace!

Activation

  • Think deeply on scriptures which focus on this truth. Study. Memorization. Meditation. Speak them out loud.
  • Think creatively. What new things can you do right now which harmonize with this truth?
  • Think beyond yourself. Perhaps this seems new to you, but who can you “teach” this to right now? Who can you have a conversation with?
